People Will Go to a Family Reunion to Get the T-shirt
Donna and her sister Amy hoped that the saying that, “People will do anything for a free t-shirt” would apply to the attendance at their family reunion – an event they had been planning for nearly a year in advance. The idea of having a family reunion t-shirt to commemorate the event was suggested to them by their Grandmother Ruth who had collected numerous t-shirts from the many 5K races and charity walks that she had participated in several times each year. Their grandmother now participated as a volunteer and spectator at such events ever since she had to give up walking long distances at the age of 85, but she still fondly remembered all of the t-shirts that she got at those events and told her granddaughters that they should consider having a t-shirt for the family reunion.
“If you are worried about people not attending, offer them a free t-shirt. I think a family reunion t-shirt would be a wonderful idea,” said Ruth with a laugh.
The family reunion was being planned to coincide with Ruth’s 90th birthday – a celebration that many of their family members from across the United States had already expressed an interest in attending. The sisters who resided in Michigan in close proximity to their Grandmother had taken on the task of coordinating all of the plans for the family reunion. Since many relatives were planning to travel in from out of state to attend the reunion, Donna and Amy needed to start planning right away so everyone could make travel plans.
More than a year in advance of the big event, they had begun creating their reunion plan by compiling a guest list and researching various venues in the Detroit area where they could host a family reunion birthday celebration. In addition to selecting the venue, Donna and Amy had carefully coordinated all of the items that their Grandmother Ruth wanted to include such as color and design theme, music, photography and centerpieces for the tables. The sisters had initially considered having the family reunion celebration be a surprise occasion, but now that the planning for the event was coming to a close, they were relieved that they had included their Grandmother in the planning.
Not only did Grandmother Ruth offer a lot of creative suggestions for the family reunion, she also had many wonderful photos and stories to share with Donna and Amy. These photos and stories that their Grandmother had collected the course of her ninety years were a wonderful resource in indentifying and locating distant relatives from across the country who might have been excluded from the family reunion invitation list if Donna and Amy had not included Ruth in on the planning for her birthday celebration.
With only a few weeks remaining until the big family reunion birthday celebration, the sisters were looking forward the delivery of the t-shirts that they had custom designed and ordered online AT uberprints. The website specializes in family reunion t-shirts and had a variety of styles, colors, graphics and text readily available to customize a special design for their celebration. They knew that Grandmother Ruth would be thrilled to add the family reunion t-shirt to her collection.
